Miles for Military began with one mother’s realization that many young service members could not afford to go home.
Founder Maureen Byrne experienced firsthand the meaning of homecoming for her son, Marine Ronan Byrne. During one Thanksgiving, after paying a significant amount to bring him home, she learned that many of his fellow Marines could not afford to make the same trip.
That moment revealed an unmet need affecting hundreds of thousands of junior enlisted service members across the military.
Determined to help, Maureen founded Miles for Military with a simple but powerful vision: create a win-win model that helps service members reconnect with loved ones while strengthening the communities at their duty stations.
Today, Miles for Military continues to bring service members home for moments that matter while building stronger communities through volunteering and civic engagement.
