Lara M. is a Sailor originally from California who moved to the United States from the Philippines in 2015. After months away from home, a Miles for Military flight will help Lara reunite with her mother and brother and be there for her brother’s graduation. Family and service are both important to Lara, who credits her grandmother with teaching her the importance of helping others. She especially enjoys volunteering with animal shelters and serving people in need.
“I heard about Miles for Military through a coworker in my chain of command. This ticket means a lot to me because it [gave] me the opportunity to reconnect with my loved ones and spend meaningful time with family. I’m especially looking forward to my brother’s graduation. It’s just the three of us 3 and some family members who will be attending. It’s been a while since I was home with them, so it [meant] a lot to me to be able to come home.”
